I am always delighted when customers express their confidence in my cycling lessons, I am proud to publish some of their comments
I've been meaning to contact you ever since you did that session for me back in July.
So, first things first. What you gave me, by tempting me out of my safe but ghastly industrial estate, and onto some proper roads, was confidence: that an old geriatric like me, who had lost his sense of balance years ago, could still survive. Thank you so much!
Since then, I've completed the route I described to you as a goal (My heart disease limits me to 115 BPM max on the heart meter!)
I've also discovered the lovely field paths around the north of Hitchin. My longest journey so far has been a total of 22.8 kms done in an hour and a half. Wonderful! But I have to say that my more recent activities have been more modest.
So, thank you! The second-best purchase I've made since I started is a very effective rear-view mirror (my sense of balance is great now, which is very reassuring for an old chap in his 60s whose doctor was expressing a little concern that I have heart disease and angina and have a stent in my heart, and that I see this as the most recent stage of my rehab since the hospital treatment a few years back. It really is doing me a power of good.... cycling is certainly improving it!) And the first-best purchase was that session with you. So: thank you again!
Kind regards, Devi
A pleasure for the boys! They loved every minute of it!
I have worked with Nicky as a cycle instructor. The courses are run for five consecutive days and require the children to train on the local roads in regular traffic conditions. The aim of the course is to instruct youngsters to ride safely, to look and to see, know their position on the road, to build confidence and assertiveness, to be able to anticipate and avoid danger. Nicky relates beautifully with the children, she explains difficult manoeuvres in clear and meaningful ways. She is sympathetic and kind, understanding how scared children at this age can be, when asked to venture on to a busy road to look, indicate and ride on their own. I found it both a pleasure and privilege working with Nicky and I am certain that any children that come under her care will feel the same.
Thank you so much, Maya really enjoyed the course with you this morning, she is keen to get on the road this afternoon to teach me all the road safety rules! ;-) It is brilliant she can bike to school together now.
Feedback from all children was about how much they enjoyed the days and on Monday they were all very excited to start again and learn more. They have even taught the parents a thing or 2 (like how to lock a bike properly).
Thank you very much for the course, we would definitely recommend it and you to others.
I'm not kidding but my little man had 1 session with Nicky and BOOM! Look! He's registered disabled as he has a very rare chromosome deletion and we have tried for 4 years (since he could walk) from balance bike to all sorts to crack it and 1 hour and here we go. I now officially call you "The Bike Whisperer", words can not convey our gratitude. You're a star xxxx
A big thank you
Immy has turned from a child who could not ride a bike, into, in a session one who not only now can, but is really keen to have another go, thanks so much. She was scared but as she felt so safe with you she knew she would be fine and is looking forward to learning to ride more confidently now.
Cheers, Ingrid , Steve and Immy
'I would like to say how much Thomas enjoyed his cycling proficiency level 1 with you. He does not find it easy to relax with strangers but you made him feel instantly at ease and happy to be left with you. He gained a lot of confidence on the road and with his handling techniques and is looking forward to doing his Level 2 in the near future.
Many thanks, Sue E. (Home-educator)'
Our son longed to ride without his stabilizers like his
twin sister had done some 2 years before, we never thought it would happen as he has cerebral palsy. Well then we were lucky to find Nicky and she was just fantastic, friendly and engaging with him to gain his confidence, worked with our son and after a few lessons he did it !! I cannot put into words how so grateful we are to Nicky, the confidence and self esteem our son has gained in what Nicky has helped him to achieve and can be the same as his friends.
Thankyou Nicky. Helen..
I wanted to thank you so much for the lesson on Saturday. Despite the fact we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, we got so much out of it and have already bought Jack a 2nd hand bike and Guy took him to the park on Sunday morning and he apparently did really well - peddling properly and actually cycling (ie he would have been fine with stabilizers which is already the first major hurdle crossed as he is hyper-mobile with weak muscles!!). We also have done some searching for bikes for me and Guy so we'll be a cycling family before you know it!
All the best Naomi
"At 36, I thought it was to late to learn to ride a bike safely on the road, however Nicky proved me wrong. We talked through what I wanted to accomplish and walked through the basics of bike road craft. Then we were off, she had me cycling through the town center on busy roads, something I never thought I would do. I missed my cycling proficiency when I was at school, but I'm glad I've done it now. I can't recommend Nicky highly enough."
